About Heather

I started Farmgirl Gourmet in 2006 after buying 20 acres in Eastern Washington State as a way to stay connected with friends and family that lived far and wide. Everyone wanted updates on the city girl turned farmgirl and all of our farm antics. In the beginning, Farmgirl Gourmet was updated now and then with great recipes I’d conjured up and photos of our farm, but by 2010 Farmgirl Gourmet was awarded as one of the Top 100 Food Blogs in the United States, and honor that still gives me goosebumps to this day.

I had the great opportunity to work with so many amazing food brands and large corporations over the years of building FG.

In early 2013, I joined Chef Pete Taylor to create a spice company that would disrupt the industry as we know it. We built an incredible company that is still forging the spice road today and I am one proud Mama Spice, the nickname given to me by Chef Chad White , and a name that I cherish when any employee calls me it. Spiceology blazed into my life and food blogging took a back seat. Farmgirl Gourmet sat dormant for almost 10 years! I say almost because occasionally I’d try to add a recipe but they were few and far between. I never wanted to get rid of the website because not only is it a great repository of recipes my family and me love, but you all would’ve been angry if I got rid of the Homemade Hamburger Helper recipe! I mean it is the number one recipe….STILL, on Farmgirl Gourmet. Thanks to all who keep coming back and making it over and over again.

At the end of 2021 it was time for me to get back to my creative roots because Spiceology was all grown up and as a crazy entrepreneur, being in a more corporate environment is just not part of my DNA. I love the thrill of building brands and cruise control is just not my thing. Pete and I got back together and launched a couple brands Oath Oats and FYR with a few more in the hopper for 2024.

What’s Next?

Well, I’ve done some soul searching and think it’s time to get my gourmet hat back on and get to doing what I’m great at…making delicious recipes my readers love. If you’re still here, thank you. If you’re new, welcome! Make sure you follow me on all of the socials so you don’t miss a thing.
