Why You’ll Love this Recipe
I definitely love pasta and there’s nothing like a weeknight alfredo to fill my heart with love. The best part about this simple recipe is there’s no roux and you basically just toss it all into a saucepan and heat it up. It’s seriously that easy. This is an American-style alfredo sauce recipe so if you’re looking for a traditional alfredo, this one is probably not for you.
If you’re a pasta fan, make sure you check out some of my reader favorites like: Beef Stroganoff, Creamy Sausage and Pea Pasta, Homemade Hamburger Helper, or Lasagne Muffins. I’ll be running a series of pasta recipes in October called “While the Pasta Cooks” which is just like it sounds, easy recipes that come together in the time it takes to boil pasta. You won’t want to miss it.
Use this easy homemade alfredo sauce to make Fettuccine Alfredo, Blackened Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna Alfredo, and for a cream sauce base on Pizza.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Just a few ingredients is all that’s necessary to make this quick creamy alfredo sauce.
- Cream Cheese – any type of cream cheese will work, but flavor will vary if you use fat-free
- Unsalted Butter – or salted, just dial back the kosher salt
- Heavy Cream & Milk – for the creamy deliciousness
- Parmesan Cheese – freshly grated is always best
- Garlic Powder or minced garlic – I prefer fresh garlic, but if you’re in a pinch, garlic powder works just fine
- Salt & Black Pepper – kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
- โAl dente pasta – optional.
- Fresh parsley – for serving, optional

How to Make Homemade Alfredo Sauce
- The recipe is simple and comes together in just a few minutes. I highly recommend grating your own parmesan and not using pre-shredded cheeses as they are coated in an anti-caking powder which can make your sauce results differ. Full recipe and instructions are listed below.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the butter and cream cheese, stir until melted. Whisk in heavy cream, milk, and garlic powder until smooth. Stir in parmesan cheese, black pepper, and salt. Remove from the heat and toss with your favorite pasta.
