Be Still…Photography Therapy

Life has been a little crazy for me lately. ย Words like “I don’t haveย time”ย flow from my mouth like water. ย Running three businesses can be a struggle especially when it comes to the “T” word. ย One of the things that brings me back to centered is photography, especially still life.
Just before writing this post, my husband came in for breakfast. ย He popped his head around the corner into the dining room to find me crouched down with my camera in my hand snapping shots of crusty old silverware.
I just needed a minute to stop thinking about graphics, labels, website design, blah blah blah and just focus on beauty. ย We started talking about our daily “stuff” and he stopped me mid sentence and said “you sure seem happier at this moment”. ย He was right. ย I was happier. ย I was smiling, dancing in the kitchen with our dog, Khloe, and just generally exuding joy. ย Note to self: stop a bit more often and do the things you love because it makes you happy.
The recipe for today is this:
- Stop and smell the roses (or snap shots of crusty props)
- Do it often
Mix 1 & 2 together and stir well to combine. ย Repeat daily.
I am trying to get better about taking time for myself. ย Even if it means the list of to-do’s will be longer or that phone calls will just have to go to voicemail. ย Having clarity, focus and joy can help you achieve more, faster. ย I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying “Put a little pep in your step”. ย That’s what I’m doing…add a dash of pep.
Hey! ย Thanks for listening to me ramble today. ย Sharing what’s on my plate was freeing. ย ๐
Make today awesome!

Great “recipe”!
I’m getting a theme in the blog posts I’m reading today…that I need to settle down, take a break, and do what I love and forget the rest. Thanks for sharing. You are so talented! love these pics I want them on my kitchen wall!!!
Taking time away from the to-do list, the phone, emails, etc. is so important. Glad you’ve figured out what you love to do.
So important. I’m glad you found a moment for true happiness today ๐
Glad that you are doing what makes you happy! ๐ Love the prop shots!
Love this. Love you.
I think a lot of it is some people always on their phones, texting or talking, playing those silly games….you need a life….put that up and do what ever you have to do is what I say ๐ I haven’t been on computer in several days more than about an hr. and not on at all yesterday, and just now found time to get on for a bit….into housecleaning…..moving everything in each room and vac,& wipingd down, taking all drawers out of dressers, chest, nite stands and cleaning them out too…..already did the kitchen…..would I rather be doing this than on the computer ? You got to be kidding…..I love checking my blogs and FB everyday, but when there’s things to do, I leave it go and do what needs to be done…..and I don’t make any phone calls or receive any…..only from my kids….thank you very much…..the other calls can wait…..Just sayin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I am so glad you said this! I was sick for a few days and come back completely overwhelmed! I love taking pictures and have been so busy behind the scenes that I forgot how much fun it is. I will start snapping pictures in the morning! Thanks for the reminder!!!!!
I must tell you…that is a fabulous shot of silverware. Take some more!
You are so right. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all of the craziness life throws at us.
