My friend Jennifer over at Savory Simple asked me what my favorite cookbook was. ย Now, mind you I have over 300 different cookbooks from Vegan to Decadent and everything in between. ย It really wasn’t a hard decision, I bet if you look at the graphic you will be able to tell right away which is my fave. ย No? ย It’s the Gardeners’ Community Cookbook.
Now wait a minute…
Don’t think this is all zucchini bread and carrot soup, because it’s definitely not. ย This is a book filled with beloved hand-me-downs to uber creative and beautiful food. ย When I need a quick idea, this is always the first book I hit. ย Seriously. ย (sorry to all 299 other book writers – I still love you too) ย Here are a few of my go-to’s that never disappoint.
- Tri-Color Sweet Pepper Quiche – Don’t let the Q word scare you, this is so easy and blow your face off good!
- Classic Potato Salad – I’ve made this so many times that the page is forever stained and rumpled. ย Everyone has a recipe for this classic – but this one will make you the star of the barbecue. ย Be prepared….everyone will ask for the recipe.
- Mayonnaiseย – yep, homemade and so easy. ย You’ll chuck the store stuff once you taste how great homemade is. ย 6 ingredients in the food processor (or you can use a whisk) and you’ve got glorious mayo that keeps up to a week. ย Not that it will last that long.
My all time fave – drum roll please!
- Pear Honey – Oh to the Em to the Gee. ย This stuff is danger Will Robinson. ย I’ve made my own variation of this recipe hereย (please disregard the awful pics – I was learning about light). ย I make this EVERY SINGLE YEAR. ย We devour it on toast, top ice cream with it, eat it right off the spoon (when no one’s looking of course) and serve it with cheese and crackers. ย It’s so easy and beyond delicious. ย So decadent. ย I can’t glamorize it enough. ย Really. ย Make it. ย Ok, I’m done.
So now that you’re juiced up on my book….have you taken a gander at the other 11? ย Holy moly! ย Your library is about to explode with deliciousness. ย I personally own each one except Melt which looks insane! ย I happen to love the authors Stephanie Stiavetti from The Culinary Life & Garrett McCord from Vanilla Garlicย and admire their work tremendously. ย So, you know…301 never hurt anyone, right? ย ๐
Alright – enough chatter. ย Here’s the scoop:
The contest will run from October 13 at 12am EST through October 20 at 12am EST. ย We will use rafflecopter to select a winner and that person will have 48 hours to respond before a new winner is selected. ย You must be 18 years old to enter and we can only ship to an address in the US. ย There is additional disclaimer information in the widget but thatโs the important stuff!
Good luck!
