Harry & David Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

by FarmgirlGourmet

This big beautiful box of NEW Perfect Bite Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from Harry & David showed up on my doorstep the other day.  I guess you could say that I am a bit obsessed with H&D lately.  I mean, how can you not be when everything they sell is delicious?  That’s why when they asked me to partner with them to do a special holiday review, I was quick to say Yes.

The presentation was gorgeous with it’s Robins Egg blue shimmery covered box and beautiful hand tied bow (I had to fight with my daughter to keep the ribbon for myself).  Opening the box was hard to do, but the prize was waiting inside.  Each of the hand-dipped berries are nestled in a perfectly cut velvet covered foam form to keep them from colliding during transport.  The smell of fresh picked strawberries and sweet chocolate wafts from the box calling you closer.  When you reach for the first one, you can see the stem still attached with ripe red berry cheeks poking through the zigzags of sweet chocolate.  It’s evident that these berries were picked fresh recently and not harvested from a cold storage where they’ve been waiting for the past few months.

You can see the difference once sliced. H&D berry has no liquid, but the other brand starts to weep (like a frozen berry does when thawed)

When sending food gifts by mail, sometimes it’s hard to know what the person will get on the other end.  Anyone can post a gorgeous photo, but will it look like that when it shows up?  Will it taste as fantastic as the description?  You never really know.  What I can say about Harry & David’s strawberries is that compared to another mail order berry, there was a clear winner.  I thought it would be fun for my family to do a little side-by-side taste testing to some other mail order strawberries I had just received.  My Dad and Grandmother were over for dinner so for dessert we went around the table and taste tested each kind individually and voiced our opinions.  Here’s what we thought (really):

At first I was thinking…Harry & David sent me their berries and asked me to review them, how can I not say great things about them?  Right?  Well, my fears of being perceived as a paid mouthpiece were quickly met with “there’s really no contest here“!!  That, my friends, is the honest to goodness truth…from 6 mouths to your eyeballs.

So in conclusion – If you’re looking for a sweet gift to give that person in your life who has everything else, I highly recommend sending them a beautiful box of Harry & David Chocolate Dipped Strawberries this Holiday season.  They won’t be disappointed and you can feel confident that WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get).

Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays!

Disclaimer – I was provided a box of the Harry & David Chocolate Dipped Strawberries to review and a stipend for my time and any materials invested in writing this sponsored post.  I was not asked for a positive review, but for an honest one.  All opinions are my own and are priceless.

Last year a friend sent me three boxes of Harry & David chocolate-covered dried fruit and they were outrageously good! I can only imagine how good these chocolate-dipped fresh berries are! And what a gorgeous gift!
