Happy Valentine’s Day

Updated On: Oct 03, 2023
First, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day today!

Second, I’d like to give you a snap shot in to the day in the life of Me.  The kids have left for school and the Hubs and I are sitting with dueling laptops on the couch.  Don’t forget that we’re wearing sweats and drinking strong coffee.  While sitting here doing mindless web surfing, I decide that I should do a Valentine’s post that was about love and not food.  I wanted you to know that behind all of the food and office renovation and kitchen remodeling and so on and so forth is a great man that I love with all my heart.  So I started on the hunt for a great picture of us together.  You know, one where we’re both smiling and not sticking out our tongue’s.  Well, that proved to be a fun adventure.  This was the best I could find that was just me and the Hubs.  No kids, no dog, no one else, just us.  So I turn to him and say “We really should get our pictures professionally taken”.  He gives me the “what are you talking about” look.  Then I proceed to show him all of the photos I’ve found on my computer of him and I and we both start cracking up!  It is kind of sad.  I’m sure you have some of the same issue.  It’s either him or me driving the camera, so it’s hard to have us both in the pic at the same time.  Ok, enough of that, let’s get on to the loooooooove.
When I was in my late 20’s I moved from San Francisco to Seattle at my Mother’s urging.  She kept telling me that I’d meet the man of my dreams if I left my partying ways behind in SF.  I really didn’t know if she was right, but I took the leap of faith and moved 900 miles North.  I was working 7 days a week and didn’t really know how or when I’d have the time to meet “the man of my dreams” so I joined an online personals website.  The Hubs was the needle in the haystack.  He wrote the most amazing letter to me detailing every moment of his life and his loves.  I was smitten by his words.  We talked online for a couple of months before I agreed to meet him.  Some people don’t believe in love at first site, but it really does happen.  I turned around in my chair to see him standing there and I was done.  If he’d have my heart, it was his forever.  The whirlwind adventure began that January night in 1999 at a little Italian restaurant in Seattle and the intense love still continues today.

The Hubs and I have been married for 10 wonderful and happy years.  He’s truly amazing, wonderful, generous, loving, a great Dad, a magnificent provider, a super carpenter, the best dog walker, handy with power tools, patient, kind, tolerant of his wifes hair-brained ideas, handsome and just an all around great Man!  I am so grateful everyday that he’s a part of my life.  He’s my Knight in Shining Armour and I have no idea what I’d do without him.

Today is a little bitter-sweet in that I get to spend the morning with my Man, but he’ll be leaving me this afternoon.  I never like it when he has to leave, but he’s leaving for a great reason so I will put on my smiley face and kiss him goodbye and wish him a safe journey and a Happy Valentine’s Day.

I hope you are able to spend Valentine’s with your Valentine.  Smooch Much and Laugh Often!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
