Well, I finally heard the beckon call of the tomatoes in the garage. They’ve been calling now for more than a month…everyday as I dash by them on my way to work. So after being excused from jury duty today, I figured it was time to can some tomatoes. I absolutely love the smell of tomatoes cooking on the stove and in the oven. It’s so earthy and warm and makes me feel like I am sustaining my family, the right way. So, I made a big pot of tomato paste and roasted two large pans of tomates and garlic for canning. Monday it will be canning whole San Marzano Romas and a big pot of red applesauce. I can’t wait.
