Best Recipes of 2012

Best Recipes of 2012 via

2012!  Honestly, it feels like this year has flown by right before my eyes.  Heck, I think I still write down 2011 for the year.  It’s hard to believe that it’s almost over, but when one door closes a new door opens.  2013 is going to be a great year.  I can feel it already.  I have started detailing out goals for growing Farmgirl Gourmet and if all goes as planned, then I will need to pinch myself this time next year to make sure it’s all really real.

Before I move on to recipes, I just want to say Thank You.  Thank you to my friends, family and fellow bloggers who continue to support and encourage me.  Thank you to the new eyeballs that may be reading FG for the first time ever.  I appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to bringing you more interesting deliciousness in the new year.  Happy New Year to you and yours and goodbye to 2012.

Ok, let’s get on to the food!  🙂  Here are the top 8 recipes ranked in order by most pageviews for 2012.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte via farmgirlgourmet.comHomemade Pumpkin Spiced Latte – so easy to make, I made it twice!  This is by far my most viewed recipe and for a good reason…you will never want to buy them at the latte stand again.  Click here to get the recipe!

Dark Chocolate Stout Brownies via farmgirlgourmet.comDark Chocolate Stout Brownies – this recipe still makes my mouth water.  It was one of those recipes I thought I’d just toss together and see what happened and the result blew us away.  Get the recipe.

Oven Fried Orange ChickenOven-Fried Orange Chicken – healthy up this Asian favorite by crisping the panko-coated chicken in the oven, rather than frying.  The kids won’t know the difference!  Easy recipe here.

My Mothers Chocolate CheesecakeMy Mothers Chocolate Lovers Cheesecake – I grew up eating this cheesecake.  It was my Moms favorite dessert to make (and eat).  I kicked it up my way by making it personal-sized for Valentine’s Day and it was a hit.  Check out this easy no-bake recipe.

Butterhead SaladButterhead Salad with Olives, Spring Peas & Roasted Beets– This recipe was created for the International Olive Council and while it was beautiful to look at it, it was also delicious to eat.  Simple flavors + garden fresh produce = a plateful of deliciousness.  Recipe here.

Peppermint Bark CupsPeppermint Bark Cups – I tweaked a recipe I have been using for many years by pouring the melted chocolates in mini paper liners instead of the typical bark layers.  They are super easy to make and even easier to eat…by the handfuls.  Save this recipe for next years cookie plate.

Homemade Hamburger Helper via farmgirlgourmet.comHomemade Hamburger Helper – Yes really.  I swore I’d never ever ever ever ever make it.  Well from a box that is.  To my husband’s utter delight, I made it from scratch and he was the happiest he’s been in a while.  Make your box-loving family happy with this easy scratch recipe!
Mexican Lasagna via farmgirlgourmet.comMexican Lasagna – imagine all of your favorite taco ingredients nestled between sheets of lasagna noodles.  If your family loves Mexican food as much as mine, you will definitely want to add this recipe to your rotation.

Thanks for checking out the Top 8 recipes on for 2012.  I look forward to bringing you many more delicious recipes in 2013!

Hi Heather a while back, searching for a recipe reminiscent of my home town Portuguese Sweet Bread. I came across a great looking version with the title “My grandmoms sweet bread recipe” by Farmgirlgourmet.I was so excited to try it but, there was an omission of an ingredient or amount. The photo posted had the same look as the Massa I purchased in local New Bedford bakeries. Was it your posting? And of so,can could you inform me as to how to get that incredible recipe. Thank you Mary Witkowicz
